The Good Samaritan

Today Mom and I had lunch at the office. Ben and Jeff went to Hong Kong Buffet -- their typical Friday lunch stomping ground. Ben calls back and says that he has an "ethical" question.
Apparently, after eating, Ben and Jeff noticed that the car next to them had three infants strapped into car seats. The windows were up, there were no adults in site. Now the China Buffet is at the end of a strip mall. There's a tanning place next door, then BW3's. There is a drug store, but surely no one would park that far away and leave triplets in a locked car. They sat and waited. The babies were asleep and didn't appear to be in distress. Ben's question was, how long do you wait before you call for help?
After 20 minutes, the Sheriff came. He tapped on the window of the car...the babies remained asleep. He tapped harder. Then he turned to Ben and asked the million dollar question, "Are you sure these aren't dolls?"
At that moment, the owner of the car came flying out of the restaurant. Her company made life-like babies. She got them out and proved they weren't real.
So everyone had a good laugh at Ben and Jeff's expense, but the Sheriff called them Good Samaritans anyways.
By the way, the above picture IS a doll!

Yikes! Those "lifelike" babies just look dead to me, so I definitely would freak out if I saw them in the back of a car!

Unbelievable. Did that lady at least get a warning? Why in the world does she buckle them up? If the police have to repeatedly come out for her, doesn't this smack as similar to a kid repeatedly calling the fire department for jollies? It's not funny! Especially when you personally know of children who've died due to this kind of thing.

I'm glad Ben took the time to care.
